My children’s birthday party shows are ideal for children celebrating a 4th through a 10th birthday.

The rates below are for children’s birthday party shows in Victoria and area, & in Duncan and area (the Cowichan Valley). No travel fee, because I’m based in Victoria.
Call for rates for shows in other areas of Vancouver Island. (For example, fees for magic shows in Lake Cowichan or Ladysmith are +$50, and fees for magic shows in Nanaimo are +$100.)
All rates are complete.
I’ve performed over 4000 shows in the past 30+ years, so I have the experience to deliver a polished performance that will make your party a success.

You’ll notice that I price my different birthday show packages based on the number of children at the party (“Up to 15 children”, “16 to 25 children”, “26 to 35 children”).
“Up to 15 children” means its the same rate whether there are 5 children, or 10 children, or 15 children. The same minimum show fee applies even if there is only 1 child at the party.
Where the number of children affects the price, is in regards to the extras I include after the birthday magic show such as “balloon animals”, “magic wands”, etc.
If you want a show without any extras such as “balloon animals”, look at my Family Shows options. Those show options also have no audience limits.
#1) Donald Dunphy’s REGULAR Package “Happy Birthday Magic Show”
Fill your child’s party with laughter, smiles, and amazement! The birthday show is a blend of amazing magic tricks, fun balloon twisting, clean comedy, and hilarious audience participation.
A quick summary of the Regular Package:
*** Runs about 40 minutes total.
30-Minute “Happy Birthday Magic Show.” After the Magic Show, Balloon Animal souvenirs.
Because this package includes extra Balloons, everything runs about 40 minutes. I’ll be sure the birthday child gets a Balloon Animal and a fancy Balloon Hat, and then I’ll make a Balloon Animal for each child after the 30-Minute Magic Show. Making Balloon Animals for up to 15 children takes about 10 minutes, after the Magic Show. Every child will get a Balloon Animal and Magic Activity Page as a souvenir.
If there are 16-25 children at the party, it will take me 15-20 minutes to twist the Balloon Animals, after the 30 Minute Magic Show. So, for a larger group everything will run about 45-50 minutes. The fee is different for this larger group. The amount of time for Balloons depends upon the number of children — call and ask.

Frequently Asked Questions About Donald's Birthday Party Magic Shows
A: Sit back and enjoy the show. I arrive about 10 to 15 minutes before the show start time to set up (after the show, it will take me about 10 minutes to pack down from the show).
My Super Deluxe Show takes a bit longer to set up (and pack down) than my Regular or Deluxe shows, because there is extra equipment.
I’ve performed hundreds of birthday shows in houses of all sizes, school classrooms, recreation centres, rental halls, etc.
I’m self-contained, which means I don’t have to borrow a table. I bring my own suitcase, which converts to my show table.
I simply need a small 6′ x 6′, or 8′ x 8′, performing area, and can help you move your coffee table, if necessary.
I prefer to have my back to a wall, or at least have no one sitting behind me (including the adults). When people sit behind me, it causes a distraction for the audience and for me.
If it’s a bright day, consider having me face the main window (with the audience nearer the window) or close the curtains behind me, so the kids can see the show.
A: No, I don’t use live animals, which may make a mess in your home, or bite your child. My focus is more on the audience participation. I want the children to be the STARS of the show, not an animal.
A: In the summer months / warmer temperatures, outdoor shows are OK, as long as you discuss it with me when first booking your show.
I have some preferences about the performing surface, where I’m supposed to set up my magic table (call to discuss), and which shows work best outdoors vs. indoors.
Also, I have some expensive magic props that I don’t want damaged, so I won’t perform my magic show outdoors in rain (even a light rain), or when it’s really windy.
Let me know about your back-up plan to have the show indoors, or if you plan to provide a portable pop-up tent / canopy to perform under.
Generally speaking, I prefer indoor shows, but I still do some outdoor shows. For outdoor shows, some problems include wind, heat, water, uneven performing surface, balloons popping too easily, etc.
I can’t perform the Floating Child Illusion outside on the grass at a birthday party for safety reasons (must be done on a level floor indoors, or on a level deck).
